Gas? Bloating? Indigestion? Constipation? Belly Fat?
Beth Ley Knotts, Ph.D. (Nutritionist)

An estimated 73% of the population frequently experiences these digestive disorders.

This is largely due to the widespread prevalence of artificial sweeteners, processed sugars, and other unnatural ingredients commonly found in the modern American diet. You may consider reducing or eliminating these common causes of digestive issues:

1. Azodicaronamide - chemical added to whiten flour - check your ingredients!

2. Diet soda and diet products containing aspartame - kills the good bacteria in your gut causing candida, leaky gut and weight gain.

3. Processed sugar - feeds the candida in your system, upsets pH balance of the body and causes numerous other health problems.

4. Coffee - especially with added sugar - highly acidic which feeds the unwanted candida

5. Alcohol - kills off good bacteria in the digestive system

6. Use of antibiotics - kills off good bacteria in the digestive system

Your digestive tract is home to billions of units of bacteria – some good, and some bad. When the ratio of bad bacteria begins to grow and outnumber the good as the result of use of any of the above substances on a regular basis, you may begin experiencing a wide range of digestive issues – which can lead to bigger health problems.

Candida overgrowth symptoms include: Sugar and carb cravings, anal or vaginal itching or jock itch, athletes foot, rashes, thrush (white coating on tongue), inability to lose weight, chronic fatigue, lowered resistance to illness, acidic urine pH, acne, constipation, bloating and other digestive issues, etc.

The proper bacterial balance (you want at least 80% good) is needed to properly digest and get the nutrients out of the food you eat. Without adequate good bacteria you will store fat (especially around the belly) instead of burning calories for energy resulting in feeling tired and run down all the time. These probiotics are also responsible for serotonin production (one of our happy hormones), B vitamin production, cell regeneration and proper immune function. Probiotics are a NATURAL antibiotic!

Gas, bloating, constipation, chronic fatigue and these other common issues CAN be a thing of the past. Experience increased energy, improved metabolism, better digestion, and the many benefits of a healthy digestive tract.

Some of you may be thinking.... I tried taking probiotics and they did not work. Here is what to look for in selecting a probiotic that WILL WORK!!!

1. High potency laboratory grade - look for at least 40 billion Colony Unit (CU) per capsule for adults. 15 billion CU for infants and 20 or more for children. More than this is NOT harmful and may even be needed!

2. Multiple strains of different types of bacteria strains.... 3 or 5 is simply not enough! Look for at least 8 different strains... and more IS better.

3. Acid resistant so the bacteria will not be consumed by our natural stomach acid so they can actually reach our gut so they can do their job.

Referenced along the left of this article is the brand I personally use and recommend to my patients. It has 10 different probiotic strains with 50 billion CU per capsule and is acid resistant to make sure it gets past the stomach and gets into the gut where it’s needed most.

Most people just need one capsule per day, but you can take more to help boost your immune system or in cases of severe systemic candida. Safe enough for children and infants (excellent for colic). Probioitcs are also helpful for diarrhea, Crohn’s, IBS, colitis and to lower cholesterol and normalize blood pressure.
